Now disc harrow changed the lives of many farmers who were unable to properly mix the soil with plant residues after harvest. They used this special agricultural machine mainly for plowing and general preparation of the soil for sowing.

What is a disc harrow?

Disc harrow is a cultivation machine that belongs to the group of passive units characterized by the fact that they can work independently or in cooperation with a seeder to obtain a special cultivation and sowing unit. Disc harrows they can prepare and sow the soil at the same time, just like in the case of disc cultivators.

Disc harrow it is composed of two or more concave disc axles supported on a simple chassis. The dials look like plates, which is why this nomenclature is very common. The entire structure of the toothed discs is mounted on rubber stabilizers and kneading rollers. Driving around the farm sets the disc harrow in motion, which causes the toothed discs to cut and turn the soil.

Disc harrows in their operation, they replace the older generation of farm equipment - namely, the plow. Although the discs, like a plow, turn and cut the soil, the design of the disc harrow allows you to set the appropriate angle of inclination of the discs so that the mixing of the residues is thorough and, at the same time, it also acts as a stubble cultivator that turns the soil.

What is a plow?

Plow is an agricultural device usually used to fertilize the soil. It performs leading activities that prepare the land for cultivation, i.e. crushing, loosening, shifting and mixing the soil. The implement is so heavy that it cannot be carried across the field on its own, it must be driven from the front by a two-wheeled machine, such as a tractor or tractor. Plows are divided into several types: plowshare, reversible, trailed and disc.

The plow consists of one or several longitudinal bodies responsible for cutting the roll strip from the ground, depositing it and turning it over. They work by throwing the cut roll into the appropriate groove after plowing - in other words, the pass fills one furrow and at the same time creates another groove to be buried.

The plow belongs to the old agricultural machinery type system. Modern technology in the agricultural industry has introduced many devices to simplify work on a multi-hectare farm. One of them are ATOS disc harrows, which effectively eliminated the need to use a plow.

Advantages of a disc harrow

The special agricultural machine that it is disc harrow it is widely used in agriculture because it does not need a lot of power, is not prone to clogging, and above all, is perfect for:

  • removing weeds and soil,
  • decomposing crop residues,
  • shallow soil cultivation after harvest,
  • stimulating the growth of self-sowing plants,
  • mixing stubble residues.
